Client: London
Borough of Redbridge
Project: Ursuline
School
Need: Classrooms
suitable for music, computers, study areas, tea bar and toilets.
As the building was surrounded by other buildings of diverse design,
materials and colours, it needed to be architecturally sympathetic.
Solution: A
double storey, permanent modular building was provided. Externally
it had distinctive stained timber ship lap which contrasts with
smooth stone aggregate panelling. Other elements such as windows
and effective sound insulation, provided through an insulated suspended
ceiling, were to Redbridge's particular design requirements.
Accommodation was designed to be just as flexible with music classrooms
and practice rooms on the ground floor and two sixth form common
rooms, tea bar, computer/study room and toilets on the first floor.
Duration: 80% quicker than the traditional building methods.
16 weeks from Order to Hand-over
Client comment: "the excellent teamwork between
the school, L B Redbridge and ourselves, allowing Rollalong to provide
the design flexibility to my architectural requirements, and to
provide a flexible build programme to meet a very tight and critical
timescale"
