However it is encouraging to see that in the last twelve months there has been a move in the right direction, with companies starting to spend more and standards improving, I feel sure that the Health and Safety Executive will also be pleased to see this. It was of interest to find that there is a clear agreement that the quality of site facilities can have far reaching affects upon site life, in particular I would of thought that the findings demonstrating that quality site facilities can directly affect productivity and help to reduce accidents must be worth taking note of. Sadly, the findings still reflect what most peoples perceptions are, that generally speaking the standards of site facilities are still a long way from being acceptable and as the survey's participants unanimously agree, if more women are to be attracted in to the construction industry, site facilities will have to improve. We should not be too quick to condemn or 'tar everybody with the same brush', there are many examples of companies who are committed to improving the quality of site life for their workforce."
