Rollalong are working for PriDE PFI on the first of three buildings required for the relocation of 230 Squadron to RAF Benson from Northern Ireland.
Overall the site will require 28 modules, the first of which have been dropped onto site on time and in perfect weather.
The building is assembled in 4 days, creating 1200 sq m. Operations Centre for 230 Squadron at their new location. It will take 15 weeks to complete the internal and external works. These include a comprehensive M & E system with a full plant room, ventilation systems and localised comfort cooling.
The building is designed to achieve DREEAM excellence and will be clad in composite walling and roofing to blend in with existing buildings.
The location, overlooking and adjacent to one of the runways, can be noisy with frequent helicopter movements. Thus, the building was designed to attenuate the specific frequencies from helicopter rotor and exhaust noise to create a pleasant working environment for the operational staff.
The erection of Single Living Accommodation and Training Rooms are planned for the near future.
