ROLLALONG WINS 7-YEAR ASPIRE DEFENCE CONTRACT 7 April, 2006 - Rollalong Limited has been awarded a £40million, 7-year contract by Aspire Defence to design and manufacture accommodation for Junior and Senior Ranks and Officers in Aldershot and Salisbury Plain under Project Allenby/Connaught, the MoD’s PFI programme to upgrade British Army accommodation. Rollalong will be working in close partnership with Aspire Defence, a joint venture between KBR and Carillion. Rollalong was selected by Aspire after searching the marketplace for a volumetric modular supplier who could deliver reduced risk, short build programmes, quality, minimal site disruption and high performance accommodation. Al Volpe of Aspire said: "Aspire have selected Rollalong as a result of their ability to understand the needs of our customer, the Army, and their robust approach to the manufacture and delivery of the modular units. The teams supporting the development of the Rollalong solution for this project have developed a partnering relationship which has proven to be responsive and I am confident that this approach will be sustained going forward." The Project Allenby/Connaught contract includes an intensive build programme that requires the demolition of some of the existing garrison facilities to make way for the new improved accommodation. Speed is of the essence to reduce the level of inconvenience caused to the operation of the existing garrisons. The Rollalong solution provides speed and a high level of quality to meet rigid specifications. It also enables the manufacture of modules in the factory to progress in parallel with site preparation and ground works. Each Rollalong module generally consists of two rooms and a corridor, which contributes to a fast and efficient installation programme on-site. The time saving of volumetric manufacture reduces build programmes by up to 30% compared to traditional build. The modules are manufactured within the Rollalong quality controlled factory environment, which works to manufacturing tolerances and zero defect policies under an ISO 9001 certified internal quality scheme. The modules are completed with all mechanical and electrical services as well as the kitchen furniture and bathroom sanitary-ware fitted in the factory. The professional site management team, who have an excellent health and safety record, ensure installation is achieved with minimal site disruption. Rollalong's highly regarded reputation within the single living accommodation marketplace has been built on previously successfully projects. Project Emma in Portsmouth, involved the design and manufacture of four counter terrorist compliant single living accommodation blocks that provide 584 bedrooms, within a 14-month programme from start on site to handover. Tim Cowhig, Rollalong Limited Managing Director stated "We are pleased to be building a long-term partnership with Aspire Defence". To view previous press releases click here
